Risk Disclosure
Read this before using IBEX Wallet. Self-custody gives you full control of your assets and full responsibility for them.
This disclosure explains the principal risks of using IBEX Wallet, a non-custodial wallet application. It is not exhaustive and is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice. If you are unsure whether holding cryptoassets is appropriate for you, seek independent professional advice.
1. Cryptoassets are high risk
The value of cryptoassets can be extremely volatile and may fall as well as rise. You should be prepared to lose all the money you put in. Cryptoassets are generally not covered by investor compensation or deposit protection schemes in the United Kingdom.
2. Self-custody responsibility
IBEX does not hold your assets, keys or recovery phrase. You are solely responsible for securing your device, wallet password and recovery phrase.
- If your recovery phrase is lost, your funds cannot be recovered.
- If your recovery phrase is exposed, your funds can be stolen instantly.
- IBEX cannot reset, restore or override wallet access for anyone.
3. Transactions are irreversible
Blockchain transactions are final once confirmed. Sending assets to a wrong address, on the wrong network, or to a fraudulent recipient results in a permanent loss. Always verify the address and network before confirming.
4. Network and protocol risk
Blockchain networks may experience congestion, high fees, delays, forks, re-orgs, protocol changes or failures outside the control of IBEX. Fees quoted in the wallet can change with network conditions.
5. Software risk
No software is free from defects. Bugs, incompatibilities, device failure or malware on your device may result in loss of access or funds. Keep the wallet and your operating system updated, and maintain an offline backup of your recovery phrase.
6. Third-party services
Features such as swaps may route through third-party liquidity providers or service integrations. Those services have their own terms, pricing, execution behaviour and risks, and IBEX does not control or guarantee their performance.
7. Fraud and social engineering
Cryptoasset users are targeted by phishing sites, fake support accounts, fraudulent “recovery” services and impersonation. IBEX will never ask for your recovery phrase, private key, wallet password or PIN.
8. Regulatory risk
Laws and regulations affecting cryptoassets can change, including in the United Kingdom, and may affect how you can use, hold or dispose of your assets, as well as your tax obligations. You are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to you.
9. No advice and no guarantees
Nothing on this website or in the wallet constitutes advice or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. IBEX makes no guarantee of returns, availability or continued support for any asset or feature.
