How IBEX Works
A plain-language explanation of self-custody: what happens on your device, what happens on the blockchain, and what IBEX is not able to do.
From install to your first transaction
- 1
Install the wallet
IBEX runs locally on your device. There is no IBEX account holding your funds.
- 2
Generate your keys
When you create a wallet, keys are generated on your device and never transmitted to IBEX.
- 3
Back up your recovery phrase
Your phrase is the only way to restore the wallet on another device. Record it offline.
- 4
Receive assets
Share your address (or QR code) for the correct network to receive supported assets.
- 5
Send assets
Enter the destination address, check the network and fee, then authorise locally with your key.
- 6
Swap assets
Exchange between supported assets from inside the wallet, reviewing rate and fees first.
